We are retired .... I have been gardening since I was very young and just love it. The last 10 years I have been going HOG WILD for Hosta's. I like astilbe"s and Daylilys, They are my favorites.. and It seems as though I have a lot of other favorites too..my yard is overfilled and I have ended up growing the excess in pots. WoW! I need more land!! I have in the past year been trying my hand at growing hosta's from seed. It makes the winter go so fast and it is very enjoyable. Okay, it is 2004 now and we have a new place on one acre....All tilled up, with semi shade, The ole Hosta patch in pots that came with me are mostly in the ground now and loving it. I am steadily adding to my collection. I call the new place my new canvas to paint so to speak. Had good luck last year with hybridizing...Lots of new streakie babies doing great.
