I live in Northern New Jersey with DH, our daughter,son, and big dog in a house built on the side of a small mountain. We have almost four acres (only 1.5 cleared) of rocky soil thats full of tree roots. We have beautiful, mature trees which do a great job of keeping the house cool and our yard private. We purchased the property with big dreams of breathtaking gardens, but soon learned that its not easy to dig into rocks. Weve removed most of the weed trees close to the house and planted a few shrubs and perennials. We plan on installing more perennial gardens, woodland gardens, a vegetable garden (we miss our home grown veggies), and a pond...eventually. We only garden organically.
