Typical gardener story.. my interest began with our first real home. The first year I grew common annuals in pots on the front stoop. Window boxes the next year & a few annuals plunked in the ground around the foundation hedges. The next year realized this gardening thing was pretty neat & decided to expand to the back yard. Over the next few years I gradually discovered the world of perennials, herbs, and composting. We moved from our first home & I was devastated to leave my blood, sweat & tears (and big bucks invested in the landscaping) but quickly realized with our new home that I had a blank canvas! I had learned SO much the first few years by trial & error.. my design tastes had changed, my interest had grown into an absolute obsession.. my gardening matured a bit. I waited an entire year to dig into the earth.(not because I'm a patient lady by any stretch, but rather because I was pregnant during gardening season and couldn't bend over!)I spent time researching/learning about plants and enjoyed planning the design of my new garden. I couldn't be more thrilled with the progress! I've created different garden rooms, including a Children's Garden. It's been an ongoing project and a bottomless money pit every season! We added a pond, stream & waterfall several years ago & now I can't imagine any garden without a water feature! I'm getting more & more into attracting wildlife to my yard. I have fallen in love with my pond and continually pester my hubby to dig another one in front of the house! (no go so far) Gardening has become a complete passion. It's interesting to reflect on how far I've come from my little pot of petunia's on the front stoop!
Happy Gardening!
