After growing a variety of veggies in my NJ back yard garden for over 35 years, I finally followed my dream, took early retirement, and bought a house with 25 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwestern Virginia. My new garden is 50 'x 80' with an electric deer fence and hopefully will satisfy all of our vegetable needs. My main crops are tomatoes, garlic, onions, peppers, and corn, and my specialty is a delicious tomato salsa which I can and use as a topping for omelets or to make soup. I am mostly organic, using compost and straw mulch with no pesticides or fungicides, but am not averse to using inorganic fertilizers as needed. When my hands are not in the ground I enjoy traveling the world, drinking fine wines, and doing a lot of cooking. Ahh life is good!
