Me and my wife, Cathy, and our two small dogs live on a 5.60 acre parcel just outside the town of Lake Placid, Florida. We like to grow many species of plants, shrubs, and trees, especially palms, which we now have approximately 80 species.

We moved here from Howard County, Maryland, in December of 1997, two years after I took an early retirement. I recently completed our county's master gardener program but I still have much to learn.

Our goal here at our homestead is to completely screen ourselves off from the few surrounding neighbors we have using palms and and other tropical/subtropical plants and shrubs and turn our property into a park-like subtropical jungle setting.
