I grew up in Anaheim, and have gardened since I can remember. After studying Ornamental Horticulture at Cal Poly I moved to the tropics, here in Venezuela. I make a living landscaping and spend my free weekends gardening at home with my wife. This country is a plantsmans paradise, with tropical rainforest, savanahs , cool temperate to Alpine, deserts and tropical coastlines. In my big jobs I enjoy using native plants which are collected and then propagated for use. We have a 5 month dry season which is in gardening the limiting factor, as is the cold up north. I have opted for drought tolerant plants like bromelliads for my garden because of the yearly water shortage. I have a creek in the back and big native Erythrina trees shading most of my garden of 4000 sq, meters. When I travel, I enjoy collecting new plants which may be of horticultural interest.
