I'm an Englishman in Warsaw - almost no foreigners have gardens here, and so find my tribulations with plants baffling. Garden centres here are OK, but I find Polish gardening tastes not to my style - all those conifers ...
I'm looking in hope to Canada - similar problems with climate (c.f. hydrangeas). Winters are bitter here - esp last year. My butterfly bushes (buddleia davidii) died, for example. Hot summers though, and with forest, field and marsh nearby I would love to develop a real butterfly garden, as I've had swarms of them over the last few years.
