I live in Alaska. Because our summer up here is short, I try to have as much color as I can in the summer using plants outdoors. In the winter, I have lots of color using material and making quilts for others. I do enjoy working with both. Always something new to learn.
I have 3 helpers while I am going about my gardening or quilting. They are: DewDrop (doberman), Amy (toy poodle) and Angel (Standard Poodle). In the summer while planting flowers in the large containers, they followed me pulling them out as I was planting them. Little Amy likes to jump up and bite off any part of the plants that hang over the edge of the container. Almost as bad in the winter while quilting, my little one Amy grabs all the fabric scraps and runs all over the house. By evening, looks like a wind storm has hit the place. But, it is all in fun and we do enjoy, I even get some quilting done.
Nice update: As of last fall (2003) I now have my own greenhouse which is heated and lighted so I can use it year round. It is not huge but big enough to keep me busy. I hope to get enough plants going so I can have extra for trading.
