i am new to gardening and have some trepidation about making mistakes and killing off plants. i have been told that you can learn a lot about yourself and about life through gardening. so far, i've learned that i'm a perfectionist (not good for a begining gardener!) and this inhibits me from doing many things i'd like to try. i've also learned i need to stick to my guns--i think i've just won my 3 year war with the deer, having given in and fenced the front garden in my house. i now find that i *love* the new space it has created, a sort of see through hidden garden. and here is another lesson, unexpected delights arrive when you lets go of your preconceptions and just do what you need to do. i look forward to the years to come with my garden, and sharing the joy with my children as they grow older (right now they are just 1 yr old and are just learning to toddle about.)
