Ive always been interested in tropical plants and have always loved palms. The best part about living in a zone 7 is growing things that aren�t suppose to grow here! My goal is to make it feel like the tropics and learn about all different types of tropical and subtropical plants. I have successfully overwintered a sabal minor, 2 windmill palms, and a pindo palm last winter for the first time, and will be trying a Livistonia, Sabal Domingensis, and European Fan Palm this winter (2010-2011). I am also trying some cast iron plants, an oleander, and a frostproof gardenia for the first time this winter. Next year all my banana plants in pots will be going in the ground along with many other new tropicals. Every year the collection gets bigger and bigger!
