I garden on the edge of an oak-hickory woodland in Illinois. I have a mix of shade, partial shade and sun perennials and shrubs. My garden includes a number of stone walls, an herb bed, a small pond and a small bog for growing wetland plants. I plant numerous containers with a mix of annuals and houseplant material every summer on my shady porch and decks. I am interested in native plants, plants that attract butterflies and anything unusual. I have a real fondness of all kinds of lilies, hydrangeas, dahlias and ferns. For the past several years I have rented a flat sunny 10x40 plot to grow tomatoes and hot peppers and other veggies with varying degrees of success.
