I am a Koi enthusiast (25+ yrs) and raise "Nishikigoi" (Show Quality Koi). I have a Koi pond that is 16' x 32' 4ft deep (shallow end) to 6ft deep. Was one of the original members (officer) of the Nor-Cal Koi Club "Zen Nippon Airinkai". Have been published in koi magazines and koi books and my wife authored an article in "Rinko" magazine. I have been fortunate enough to have visited some of the high ranking officers of ZNA while in Japan.
The most exciting one being Dr. Takeo Kuroki himself, in which my wife and I were an honored guest at his house.

To compliment my pond, I have recently been introduced to Water Gardens. I took one of my 3 cement filters (10'x12'x 2' deep) and have turned it into a water garden, which includes Lilies, Lotuses and other water plants. Even put some small live koi and frogs in it.

Was at my local nursery and ran into some Plumerias and didn't realize that you could actually grow plumerias out here. Have purchased three of them (since they are my favorite flowers).

To further enhance my backyard with plants and trees, I now have a 6'x12' Sunshine Greenhouse to store my new Tropical friends during the winter. But during Spring and Summer, I plan on surrounding my deck/teahouse with lots and lots of tropical plants.
