My wife and I garden on a little more than four acres in the upstate of South Carolina. When we first came here, more than half the property needed to be cleared of downed trees that had fallen during ice storms over the previous decade. (Here is a glimpse of what the area sometimes looks like in the winter:)

We grow many of our plants from seed. (Currently I'm growing out some Japanese Maple seedlings, which has been very interesting. I also have some Gingko saplings I grew from seed, one of which I've named after our oldest son.) Here is a Dahlia I grew from seed that I am trying to keep going:
