Here in Mobile, AL I spend an inordinate amount of time in my garden, fighting humidity and vines. The Lord blessed us with a year round growing season, but he cursed us with heat and humidity from mid-June through September that keeps even the hardiest gardener indoors. So we watch for plants which can tend themselves for a few months in summer. Except roses, of course...they demand even more attention during that time! But there's no place lovelier in spring with new leaves on huge oaks, dogwoods and fruit trees in bloom. Those are a sign to us to get busy...only a couple of months before the blast furnace returns.
