I started flower gardening four years ago when we moved to our house. The lady that lived here before had a horticulture degree and her husband was a bonatist, so we lucked out and had a lot of flowers and trees in the yard already.

She had a huge perennial garden in our back yard, but it wasn't very organized, I think maybe she just put things there that she received starts from or got on sale and didn't know what to do with them. I've slowly been moving things around to different spots in the yard. She also had lots of tulips, daffodills, iris and roses planted.

I have planted two gardens of my own, the shade garden under the hawthorn threes and the butterfly garden. I've also planted 13 clematis over the last four years, which are now my favorite!

We have four boys, including twin boys in the summer of 2000, so the last couple of years I've been pretty busy with them, so I haven't got to garden as much as I would like, but this year seems to be pretty good, they are old enough to play outside while I work in the yard now.
