We recently moved from Texas to Northern California, and what a culture shock! A garden shock too ... everything is different here. We managed to get nearly an acre of our own, though, and I am looking forward to turning it into Paradise!

We just put in a new front lawn of a dwarf tall fescue from seed, and I plan to put in a back lawn of buffalo grass and wildflowers. In addition, we are planning a little back yard Japanese garden, an iris garden, a rose garden, a boggy wildlife area for the birds (the wet ground is already there; it's just a matter of planting some bird-friendly plants in the area), and at some point I hope to build a summer house with a viewing platform (loosely inspired by Thai spirit houses) and lots of wisteria sinensis all over it. These are a lot of plans, I know ... but part of the joy of gardening is dreaming big dreams!
