Im an on-again off-again gardener. Ive been interested in plants all my life, though. Trouble is, I have a lot of other interests as well. I grew up out west where the earth is well exposed, and I spent a lot of time looking for fossils and collecting rocks. Well, that turned into a career when I got a Ph.D. in paleobotany (fossil plants) and now work as a coal geologist.

Im interested in whatever seems to like to grow in my yard. Ive got several large blueberry bushes that are now producing well. Id like to try some other fruits as well, like strawberries, blackberries, and muscadine grapes.

My wife likes flowers, so I try to keep some growing and blooming as best I can. Right now, Im cultivating some wild Passion Flower vines that seem to have invaded a corner of my yard.
