Hello,
I've been living in my home in the Philadelphia suburbs since January 2001. I've learned a LOT about gardening in the meantime. I have been overhauling the existing plantings on the property, filling existing beds which were virtually empty, and establishing new beds, including one in an old sandbox.
My emphasis has been on adding native woodland plants (though I'm not exclusively native). We have a good deal of shade and a small, rectangular property. We're on a slope, so there are some stone and lanscaping timber retaining walls to work with.
Our biggest projects have been to remove as much english ivy as possible (on 3 sides of the property) and to tame the "wild" 15' privet (which I would remove if only I could).
I'm a member of NARGS (North American Rock Garden Society) Delaware Valley Chapter.
