after years of gardening in florida and a few in the portland, oregon area, i am now settled in southwestern oregon on ancient river bottom....an area where the pulaski firefighting tool becomes my garden tool of choice for chopping into this rock hard dirt. i know this property needs truckloads of manure and compost to get things growing.
i hesitate putting out too many plants because i am told the winters are usually colder than what we had last year, but no one says the summer will get hotter because they can't, not after two summers of 105-106.
so vegetable gardening is a bit of a challenge with the short but hot summers. i now know a greenhouse is a necessity for starting vegetables to be able to put out anything that will ripen before summer's end....or buy large plants.
what i really want to use for landscaping are fragrant plants, so when i saw this site...oh girl oh boy!!!people feeling the same way about fragrance and plants that are sold as fragrant but become a disappointment because they are not as promised. so i hope to learn a lot and share my experiences with the folks happily caught in the garden web.
