I come from a long line of Southern gardeners, with agrarian roots several generations back. There is something fundamentally rewarding about making compost, maintaining a water garden and nurturing plants in my city garden. I struggle with a nearby Black Walnut tree (not on my property) and lots of shade, but it only sets some boundries, which are already limited by the amount of space. I am about to embark on a moss lawn, since I have so little sun and the moss seems to want to grow.
