I grew up in Northern California but currently live in Southern California along the coast. I love the temperate weather and can grow most things, especially since my yard has several micro-climates (sun/shade, full sun, full shade). I have a very small yard and grow most of my plants in pots and 2 small raised beds. Some days I wish I had more room for plants, some days I'm so glad I don't have more room because I know I'd just fill it up.
I love tropical plants and have collected some orchids, gingers, canna, and other tropical flowers and fruit. I like to train plants up into topiary standards (to save space) and have tried my hand at a few bonsai.
