My names Annette, youngest of 21..yes 21. 11 boys 10 girls and I'm the baby. 40 and loving it! Son born a week b4 my bd Sept.21 98. Teaching him to plant outdoors in the spring is one of the funnest things I've found. But teaching him seed starts from weeds.. well that he has a bit of trouble with but catches on quickly. I've been in Indiana all my life, and found that winter time can be quite boring when it comes to plants.

I'd like to know from anyone in a Zone 5 or around if theres any way possible to grow more then just house plants in the winter months. I'm a plant fanatic!!

Possibly moving to Ga. soon then I'll have more winter fun, at least thats what I've heard. Hmmm are those peachy peeps correct..you can still have plants growing outside in the winter months?

I was raised on a dairy farm so my family always had gardens of all sorts. I think the most fun I remember is when mama planted the \"rose moss\" or the correct plant name is \"moss rose\" bed and I could collect seeds for the following year.

I collect all seeds from my flowers and start them the next spring season. Best way to save money. Envelopes are cheap and 10 min a night before it gets dark, go out and just start collecting. 4oclocks,sunflowers,rose moss, zinnia, and others. To numerous to mention since I've already winded out the page..haha!

Thats about all. If anyone moving to this vicinity and needs to know anything about the weather or planting season, drop me an email.

I have to say, this website when running across it to find out more on avacodo seeds, I not only got alot of advice as to how to start them but had tons of fun reading some of the oops too!

Thanks for letting me share. Enjoy 2005 summer and may your hearts be filled with happiness and your yards and house full of plants!

Remember to put those hummingbird feeders out in May and take them in around mid Aug. and don't keep those cuties around later then they have to be or they won't make it out of the area in time for winter. They have thousands of miles to travel and like people they don't like to be held up in their travels!

thanks a million!!

PS: if you want your children or grand children to remember something about you after they are grown, get yourself a pkg of cactus seeds from the net or at a green house or farm store and have them drop them in a small container of dirt, finely sprinkle dirt on top, wet, cover and watch those little buggers grow before your eyes. And if you think that will take to long, toss those seeds in a paper towel, wet it, toss it in a ziplock, hang it in a sunny window and in a few days..presto... transplant those sprouts and the kids will be totally amazed!
