Our yard is mostly mown weeds in the front, stone paths, small birdbaths and fountains amongst the native plants in the other yards. We have a backyard habitat sign from the National Wildlife Federation and enjoy birds, bees, and butterflies. We don't use chemicals except on fire ants. Every weed is picked by hand. We grow some vegetables without using chemicals. We both work full time and have long commutes, so gardening is part-time until retirement.
