My son expressed an interest in flowers while attempting to improve the appearance of some real estate. Naturally, I gave him a start of what little I had, but I wanted to tell him the names of each cultivar. Since it has been appx. 20 years since I purchased the plants, my memory has failed me; therefore, I am researching online in an attempt to name plants. My son and I have had much fun this season polinating daylilies and iris. If we continue in this vein, we will have to become serious about selecting plant characteristics for hybridizing, but for now, we are really enjoying what we are doing. I only wish that he lived closer to home and that my oldest son would develop the same interest. My husband, who sometimes brought me to tears by mowing down my flowers, is even becoming interested in what my son and I are doing.
