May 2010 - We just moved out of our 1926 center hall colonial in anticipation of a major renovation, including: New kitchen (with addition), garden room, mudroom, laundry room, and walk-in pantry. Gut-renovated sunroom with new outdoor access to a childrens garden play area. Second floor changes include removing a hideous hulking bedroom addition from the 1950s (effectively changing our number of bedrooms from 6 to 5 but oh well...) and a new expanded bathroom for the kids. To aid in energy efficiency, we are putting in an entirely new roof and (best of all!) installing a geothermal system for a whole new heating/cooling component. We are looking at augmenting this with roof-mounted wind turbines, but this is still yet-to-be-determined. Cant wait!
