i have begun square foot gardening after years of toiling with excess soil and look forward to less work. i tried earthboxes and got beautiful plants, but little fruit--even though i followed instructions to the letter. I felt there was too much fertilizer, but put it in as instructed. Our water is very soft and salty.....i even took to watering with rain water i had collected. Want to learn more about container gardening in general--they always start out nice, but i either over or under water--and don't really know how to tell.
