Hi everyone at GardenWeb!

I got my Horticulture Certificate 3 years ago and I presently live in an apartement. I live outside of Vancouver BC and almost every year I give a whirl at germinating plants from the garden centre and from the bulk section at food stores.
This summer 2002 I have 2 birdfeeders and they are visited with several birds everyday. There is mayhem thoughout the day and it brings me joy from watching the simplest of creatures live out their lives.
I have witnessed a female hummingbird come by a couple of times and she was searching in my lavender flowers.
I usually grow mainstays like nasturtium because I have fond memories from my childhood.
I have limited space on my patio but I am tempted to try and grow anything. I just started keeping a journal and I think it is a good idea to document everything that I do with my current growing season.
I am interested in obtaining a functional patio with some edible plants-(ie beans), attracting butterflies and hummingbirds and other pollinators as well as obtaining a informal cottage garden style(english garden).

I love to see new plants grow. I also like buying really good material(books), so that I will have a reference library.

OK, that is all for now,
Karin

My zone is: z6 BC Canada
