Hello All,
Its nice to be here at Garden
Web!
I am married, with 1 son and 3 stepsons, who are all grown and "on their own" :-)
I enjoy veggie and herb gardening and also have several small flower gardens, and I am a vegetarian bordering on vegan, and look forward to the Vegetarian Recipe Exchange forum.
I am vegeterian for moral and ethical reasons: inhumane treatment of factory farmed animals, destruction of the earth by using non sustainable methods. I read recently that it takes 7 lbs of grain, and over 2000 gallons of water to produce 1 POUND OF BEEF!!!! Thats outrageous, with all of the people starving to death in the world today, and the water issues which we read about in the papers every day. I made the decision to do something about these abuses, by refusing to purchase and/or consume any animal products, and I buy organic whenever I can, as organic is truly the only sustainable agricultural method.
I also have companion animals: 3 dogs: Spaz, Bubba, and Rex; 3 cats: Spud and Jake, and Little Bit; plus all the wildlife (squirrels, deer, turkeys, raccoons, birds and a very large wild black snake) who live in our yard and we love watching.
I have a small, rather humble plastic/pvc pipe greenhouse, where I start all my plants from seed, and enjoy "getting away" for an hour or two now and then.

Hopefully, in the next year or so I can "upgrade" to a polycarb hoophouse.

I love trading seeds with others, and enjoy making friends with other gardeners. There is so much to learn!!!
