I am an incredibly subversive person who gets out his angst by wresting stones out of the landscape. For this I have a garden with deep beds and a bordering stone wall. Alas, I've nearly pulled all the rocks out and don't plan on expanding so I use other means of getting out my energy, such as long distance running, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, playing the bagpipes, and writing long tirades against common culture or the fate of the universe in general.

Though I fancy myself a child of nature, I'm ever rebelling against the authority. I stay organic, not about to change that, but I do on occasion have to invoke the fouler demons of the netherworld to bring their curses down upon the slugs that have eaten nearly every seedling in the garden. I loathe those mucous laden invertebrates with a passion that defies description.

I'm looking forward to when the tomato plants get some size to them so that I will no longer have to beat back every pest that sets its soul against my vegetable patch. Tomatoes are one of the most wholesome creations of this earth and I want to see mine develop roundly to carmine perfection.

I'm going to need some serious doses of Walt Whitman until the garden takes off.
