When I'm not in my garden I teach psychology at a small private college in Kansas City. Since we moved here four years ago, I've been totally addicted to(and often frustrated by!) the challenges of shade gardening in the hot dry/freezing cold midwest. Let's see, funny story...When my husband and I moved into our home with the woodland backyard of my dreams four years ago, our "helpful" new neighbor came over while we were on vacation and cut down most of the small trees and shrubs, neatly bundled them and put them under our deck as a "surprise". We were horrified when we saw what she had done...So I've spent the last four years trying to recreate the natural woodland look. We now have a TALL fence between her yard and ours. We can chuckle about it in retrospect. I look forward to sharing thoughts and ideas with all of you. This looks like a great forum.
