As an Englishman relocating to Newfoundland, Canada, it took a bit of getting used to the different gardening scene. For instance, the first year I thought winter would never end; then spring flowers, crocus to tulips came out in a rush in mid May to mid-June. Since then I've always forced bulbs under cover to have some in flower while the blizzards blow outside.
