Hi,
My name is Shelley & although I am American, I moved to Scotland in March 1995, just after getting married(my hubby is British). I've been a keen gardener for 10 years & hubby comes from a gardening family with several botanists in the group. We do not have children but do have a dog who can, at times, be more of a handful than any child and who loves to help himself to anything in the vegetable or fruit garden. We now keep a close eye on him when he's near these areas (a fence did nothing to deter him!)
I've been in a wheelchair since Jan 2000 so my style of gardening has changed but I'm still as ambitious with growing plants as ever. I'm addicted to plants & can never get too much info about them. I love to grow any type of plant, native, common or exotic, they all have their own unique appearances and qualities. We grow 45 different veggies, 25+ different herbs, 15 different fruits, as well as shade loving plants, sun loving plants, hardy plants, tropical plants, etc & we've just built a pond & bog area so will be trying lots of new plants which is very exciting!! I'm also into crafts of all kinds & use my dried flowers, seedheads, and grasses in card-making, making pot pourri & scrapbooking.
I'm waiting to finish my degree in Botany and Biotechnology and so try to keep up with as much of the new things that are happening so as not to be behind when I'm able to finish the degree. I'm waiting for the university to build some special wheelchair friendly labs, and it should be finished by 2006, fingers crossed.
Well, that's the info about me. I look forward to learning lots more, to helping others if I'm able, and to meeting lots of other plant lovers as well as making lots of new friends here. Take care and I hope you are enjoying your garden!
