I started my first garden when I was eight years old. It wasn't much. There were your basic vegetable plants lettus, radishes, carrots. This first garden exposed me to the the growing from seed bug and the thing really sunk it's teeth into me. I continued gardening growing basically the same things until I entered college. There wasn't enough time or space for me to practice my favorite hobby and it went on hold for ten years. Then we bought our first house.

It was a dream come true. An entire piece of earth with absolutely nothing growing in it. Or that's what I thought when I first saw it. I decided to fill this empty earth with flowers, bushes, and trees I grew from seed. I thought it would mean more to us if it was something we actually put a lot of effort into. Not to mention the fact that the need to plant seeds had been building up inside of me and the pressure was threatening to destroy me.

I puchased all the latest how to garden books and the best equipment I could find. Then with great anticipation I bought my first ten packages of seeds. As long as there were instructions on the back I felt I couldn't lose. But I did.

Not one seed from the ten packages survived. Not only that but mother nature decided to plant things in my spot. As a matter of fact she planted a lot of things. Some of the things she planted a person wouldn't think an entity such as mother nature would be creating. They were more like some government experiment gone bad.

Desperate for help I turned to my computer and ended up here. At the Garden Web. The advice I picked up has turned my weed filled patch of this planet into a wonderful garden filled with the plants I want. No matter how unsuitable they are. All of which I've grown from seed. Or at least from roots I found and planted to see what they were. The cheap dirt I bought at discount prices ended up being mostly roots. Roots from some very nice bushes like spirarea, cornel, and rose.

The biggest problem I have now is where to put all the seedlings. My husband is feverishly guarding the tiny bit of lawn we still have, but I think I'm waring him down.
