Hi, Sanda here. I got my gardening addiction from my grandma, who did container gardening when I was just a tot. We live in North Orange County, in a new track home community. Fortunately we have been blessed with a large lot. We have been working on our landscape since 1999. We started from scratch, there was literally a good size empty "new construction dirt" back yard. My husband and I worked on landscape plans for two years (he is an architect). We had a vision of a tropical paradise, reminiscent of our wedding and honeymoon in Maui. In 2001 we contracted a professional to do all the hardscape (concrete work, built in BBQ and such) The following spring we built a 4,000gal+, 21x30 liner koi pond/watergarden with two waterfalls and a 10 wood bridge. We must be really crazy, the way we dug and shoveled all the dirt ourselves, and carried in 12 tons of rocks! Then we did the sprinklers and sod, and planted a lot of palm trees, bananas, plumerias, cannas, gingers, passionvines and other tropicals. We have some fruit trees: citrus, papayas, mango, avocado, peach, apricot, plum and a small vegie and herb garden. It is still a work in progress, we have some areas that still need to be planted, as we only have time in the week-ends. We still have to put up the patio cover..
