I live in a small house, originally built in 1913. It was livable when I bought it 11 years ago, but I have been remodeling it ever since. It sits on one acre of land with several large pecans and had one old rose bush that a lady told me she could remember for about 70 years, that makes it at least 80 years old now. I now think that this rose is LaMarne.

I have become totally addicted to Noisettes in the last year and have accumulated almost 100 different varieties of them. I also have many teas, chinas, a few polyanthas, bourbons and various others.

I have even gone so far as to get an import permit to import roses from England and France.

We also grow lots of vegetables. My husband likes to grow vegetables but he thinks that if you cannot eat it and have to mow around it - "why do you want it." Last summer he finally admitted that he really thought the yard was nice and enjoyed they way it was turning out. He builds all the hard structures in the yard - southerners have yards, not gardens - such as fences, arbors, greenhouse etc. I haul home the wood and he puts it together.
