Welcome to rosespecialist's Member Page
I began growing roses my sophmore year of high school. That was 1981. Those first roses were test roses from Jackson and Perkins. Then at a yard sale , I had gotten my hand on a book that introduced me to the American Rose Society. So once a member, I began my love affair! At one point in my life I had amassed 200 roses on a property. Not only for ARS exhibiting, but to gain experience with all various classifications of roses. I wanted to have the ability to look at a plant with out a flower and tell what it is. I wanted to be able to look at a rose and guess what the parentage might be. Yes, I have accumulated a rose book library. I have followed works of many wonderful rose men and their visions. I have lots of personal history with roses. So much I dont think I can place it all here in this blurb. Today, I am a Live Nursery Specialist for Lowe's. In my spare time, I tinker with hybridizing roses and vegetable container gardening. Respectively, my focuses are micro/miniature roses and space saving vegetables. I even tinker with blogging about what I am up to. My blog is www.shantytillings.blogspot.com
