I'm an enthusiastic gardener with an exceptional garden property that I don't deserve (my garden skills are only "fair to middlin" ).
On the up side, my garden was laid out with an emphasis on form and structure rather than bloom. No provision was actually made for the flowering borders that we tend to substitute as a definition of "garden". This year, I'm working on a Japanese garden and trying to nurse my rose garden back to health.
My 3-year-old daughter is my fulltime "helper". My teenage sons will assist only if the task involves equipment with combustible fuel... and a CocaCola budget. Alarmingly, they've taken a sudden interest in the new Stihl chainsaw.
