I live in the deep south where humidity and heat rule! The Spring and Fall
are certainly the most productive and rewarding gardening periods here
but I did manage this year to stick it out through July and August and
not abandon my garden altogether. I've only seriously been trying to
grow roses for 3 years and thought I was having a good year until I looked
at many of the pictures from other members - oh, boy do I have a ways to
go - but I did find them inspirational and not discouraging so that's good :) My favorites are English and Antique roses. I love almost any pink rose and am working toward a cottage with roses, herbs and perenials all growing together in an orderly chaos. My garden area is very small as we live in a downtown historic district and I can tell already that I'll never have room fo r as many roses as I want - do we ever? I have a Golden Retriever named Annie, a cat named Daisy and a husband named Matt. Our two daughters are married and live too far away - no grandchildren yet but hopeful. I'm so looking forward to learning more and more that will help me have a rose garden that I'll want to share pictures of soon. RosedreamerAL (Janie)
