I currently have a pretty good sized garden that is mostly part shade, with two sunny areas. The lot is C-shaped ( about 6,000 sq. ft ) with tress and flower beds. I am trying for a controlled, but lush look that has areas of lawn broken up with partially planted flower beds. I guess is sometimes described as an 'English' garden. I am working to fill in the beds so that there is less weeding to do. I also have a number of containers scattered around the garden, as well as on my front steps and on my deck.
I am not a novice, but I am no pro either, so I ask a LOT of questions!
