Gardening is the most fun anyone can have. You can be any age, race, or gender and find something enjoyable about it. It has helped me understand loads of things and given me something to look forward to, like selling my house or seeing blooms on plants I grew from seed. It is extremely therapeutic for physical and emotional reasons.
