After watching my father (mostly annuals) and my grandmother (who had a small farm in Maine) garden my whole life, I have been trying my hand at it for the past three years since purchasing my first home in coastal CT (dont let my geography fool you, I am not a snob!). I am trying to achieve a butterfly/hummingbird/cottage garden with a combination of annuals, perenials, roses and bulbs. I do not use pesticides or chemicals so as not to harm the wildlife and my husband built me an amazing "three bin compost system", as he likes to call it, lol :-) I am always interested in ideas for natural remedies for black spot, powdery mildew, etc. and I have three beloved dogs who are good enough to stay out of my garden beds but Duncan is only one year old and eats a lot of stuff he shouldnt. If you happen to notice that I have planted something that might put him in harms way please let me know! When I can figure out how to post a personal URL I will put some pictures out there!
