I'm a computer lab proctor at a local elementary school (love those summers off!) I'm married with two boys, all of us nature/animal lovers. I fell into wildlife rescue about 20yrs ago with an oil spill at our local pond. I'm now part of a wildlife oil spill response team. I dont go looking for them, Im just one of those people that orphaned/injured wildlife (as well as lost dogs & cats) seem to throw themselves in front of. I must wear an invisible sign because it happens almost everywhere I go.

Once instead of watching my sons little league game, I ended up chasing a mother mallard and her 13 babies who were insistent on getting to the harbor by crossing a busy main road. 14 ducks, 14 different directions, it took 3 hours to catch them all, I saw none of my sons game. We decided to go out for pizza afterwards. On my way there, I rescued the biggest snapping turtle Ive ever seen (about 20in across), from another busy road, leaving my husband and son sitting at the restaurant with cold pizza. The very next game, there were 4 orphaned baby sparrows found in the scoreboard. I watched the remainder of that game with the nest in my lap. Anyone one that knows me understands.
Its that invisible sign.
