i moved to north nj and have a big problem with wildlife and clay soil. my garden in LI NY was really great-I could plop a plant or seeds in and they would take off with enough humus. my property in nj is beautiful with lotsa trees and many rhodies but the soil is heavy and hard to work and some of my favs are also great deer food HEELPPP
I love roses, iris, lilies, daylilies (enough said??) azaleas (sadly some of these are also fun to eat from what I've seen) clematis (now I hear these are OK and herbs (another deer no no). I have a littel forest in the back so I am planning to do a forest garden with dogtooth lily , trillium, jacl in th pulpit, etc. any comments or help are appreciated from my North NJ neighbors.
