When I was a child, all I wanted to do was tend animals and play in the dirt. I tended the slugs in my granny's garden when we lived in Virginia, and tended the gophers when I helped my grandma once we moved to Arizona. Now, I tend the soil and send the animals packing. Nevertheless, gardening is my way of combining all my passions; growing stuff, tending animals like birds, butterflies and such, and cooking delicious, healthy meals. My garden is my life, literally and figuratively. Without it, what would life be?
