I live in Thurston County, in western Washington state.

I learned most of my gardening in northern California, in the SF Bay Area so I am knowledgeable about both areas.

I used to be a gardening pro but it wore me out too much. I worked in various retail nurseries in both states, and had a garden maintenance business in the Palo Alto area for years. Then I also worked in a wholesale nursery here in WA.

I grow roses, and fruit trees, and strawberries and peonies and a bit of everything. I know all the native plants that grow around here and love to go berrying and birding and mushrooming and wildflowering. And the frogs in the spring! it's heaven. I also have two dogs that race around the garden and go hiking and camping with me.

I love rural western Washington. I love the cool cloudy climate, and the birds, and the trees and all. Not the icy roads in winter tho. I love to go out in the national forests or the beaches with my dogs when I'm not gardening. It's a great place to garden so long as you work with the climate - so much grows here so well! the roses are a challenge though.
