I live in Davis, CA in the central valley. I have the smallest imaginable garden; square footage is probably less than 200 sq. ft. with some hardscape paths. Nevertheless, it's a manageable size! I am a botanist by profession, but have only just started gardening. I currently have totally redone the entire garden (it's a rental and had very traditional, hard-to-kill plants before)to include perennials, shrubs and annuals and added numerous potted plants as well. I like to try different things, including vines, roses, salvias, unusual perennials, bulbs and annuals. Just about anything. I'm so glad I discovered gardening; it is the most relaxing part of my day!
