I live in the little backwoods town of South Prairie, Washington. We are about 30 or 40 miles from the Seattle/Tacoma area, east and up into the lower foothills. My husband and I have five acres, although at least three are still heavily wooded. It has been a lot of fun carving our world out a little piece at a time, although I am getting a little tired of hearing my husband ask why I need to build "still another garden..."

I love to garden, and enjoy having a large area to do it in. My job is stressful and my garden is my release. I have a little bit of everything in my yard, and although I know quite a bit about all of the plants I grow, I am far from an expert on any one variety. Daylilies have pushed out roses as my favorite, although they have some heavy competition with dahlias, heathers and lillies. If I had a small garden I would go crazy having to choose....
