I have lived on a ten acre farm in Newalla, OK, for about a year and a half. It has mostly sandy loam soil with some areas of hard orange clay (unfortunately.) Have been gardening as my personal therapy for health and wellbeing, about five years. I love all kinds of plants but especially flowering plants and ornamental grasses.

Nothing was here on the farm when we moved in so am collecting from people I meet (and cuttings anywhere I can) and buying mostly perennial seed. I especially love the tall flowers like Delphinium and Verbascum. Also Elephant Ears. Well, all right anything green!!

I get compost/mulch from the Norman facility and have found this to be a great soil emendation for my part of town.

We sell vegetables at the Shawnee Farmer’s Market, so am also learning from my husband of one year about growing vegetables. Would like to now further my knowledge of plant taxonomy so perusing gardening books from the library, etc.,

Also learning to sew with my new to me Bernina 1008. Thanks, Grandma!!
