I am just beginning to learn about gardening - both outside and inside. I need to ultimately landscape my front garden, as well as my back garden and have no idea where to start. I did take a course in garden design, but all it did was make me more confused than ever. I am to the point that I believe I am going to have to hire someone to at least get me started with the basics or maybe a 5-year plan.
Inside I have started growing African violets and orchids. Love them.
UPDATE: I planted my first flowerbed in 2004; all of the plants came back this year (2005) and they are maturing nicely. I am pleased with the way it turned out.
My yard has drainage problems which is being given consideration as to how to correct the situation. Hope it won't be too expensive.
I have abandoned the growing or orchids. I was not having any luck with them. So decided not to put out any more money for the plants. The African Violets are doing well, and I really like the way they look.
I live in a zone that has two zones in it according to my county extension agent. For cold hardiness, I can consider it zone 7A, and for heat tolerance zone 8B.
I live in: United States
My zone is: 7b/8a TX
