Probably ought to update this since I seem to be sticking around...

Grew up in northern Indiana with little interest in gardening/flowers even though my folks kept a huge garden and we had flowers/flower beds in numerous locations around the house/yard.

Spent a number of years in KS surrounded by brown.

Have been in Broken Arrow since '94 and have been planting and killing flowers since '96. Have a small veg. garden that seems to need enlarging every couple years 'cause I always want to try something different. Gardening is mostly a low-cost way (the way I do it, at least) to keep me away from the idiot box and the hardware stores.

Our yard varies from full sun to dappled shade to full shade. We have mostly clay except where I have haphazardly amended things. My mind wanders during the season, so we tend to plant things that are pretty self-sufficient. I won't plant anything I have to remember to dig up in the fall.

We have two big river birch trees in the front yard that we are slowly using perennials to fill in around/between.
